CORPORATE TOP PRODUCER: Laurence Bergman
President of NAI Bergman, Laurence Bergman has been announced as one of NAI Global’s top producers for the year. He is a founding member of his firm – NAI Bergman, a leader in the Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky, Southeast Indiana, and Dayton markets – and a licensed real estate broker in Georgia, Kentucky, and Ohio.
The award is an annual endeavor at NAI Global and celebrates those individual brokers who handle the “highest volume of multimarket business within” the group. The recognition culminates with an awards presentation at the 2021 NAI Global Convention in New Orleans, LA – planned for September 2021. We will be profiling these award-winners in a Q&A series on our blog, of which this is the second edition of the series.
Laurence – or Larry to those who know him best – also previously served as chairman of the Greater Cincinnati Commercial Real Estate Council, and today sits on its board of directors. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the National Association of Realtors, and served on the Lands Commission in the United States Federal Courts.
“Congratulations to Laurence on his Top Producer award,” says Jay Olshonsky, NAI Global President & CEO. “He has established a long and outstanding reputation in CRE, and this is another feather in his cap.”
Q&A
Q. What does a typical workday look like for you?
A. It starts early with responding to emails, which is then followed with whatever is required of me and everyone in our firm to be the best we can be. My key role is to develop opportunities and promote business development.
Q. What is something you love about your job?
A. I love the interactions I have with a diverse group of interesting people.
Q. How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors?
A. There may be others that think we are their competitor, but we are not. The business we do is with those that want to do business with us. We have either built long-term relationships with the folks we work with or earned their friendship.
Q. Where will I find you on a typical Saturday morning?
A. Early on Saturdays, I will be found reluctantly climbing on a Peloton (bike) to spin for 45 minutes, followed by other exercise. I would much rather be at the office.
Q. What do you think is your secret to success?
A. I don’t have a secret to success. It comes from the care and concern you have for others and the willingness to help.
Q. Do you have a mentor? If so, how does that person help you in your business?
A. When my father was living, he was my mentor. Today, it’s my brother and brothers-in-law that I turn to for guidance.
Q. What is your best advice on growing a team?
A. Have a good reputation. Treat everyone within your organization right, and ensure they feel important and rewarded for their efforts.
